6 times no brakes
2 years ago, I purchased a Cadillac XT5 from General Motors, excited and hopeful. However, from day one, this vehicle has been nothing short of a nightmare. The display screen constantly restarts — sometimes up to 10-20 times a day — cutting off calls and GPS functions mid-use. Despite multiple visits to the dealership for repairs and their claim that the issue had been fixed by replacing the part, the problem continues.
Another issue, no less serious, is the oil leakage from the driver’s side front section. I have repeatedly brought it in for repairs, yet the leakage persists. But the most catastrophic issue is with the brakes. Just two weeks after purchase, I was horrified to discover that I had no braking power and rushed to the dealership in panic. They claimed to have replaced a component and assured me that the issue was fixed, but the brakes failed five more times after that. Each time, the dealership insisted the problem was completely resolved. On the fifth occasion, they provided a long list of parts they claimed to have replaced and kept the vehicle for 40 days for testing and repairs. But after returning the car, only five days of driving later, the brakes failed a sixth time.
That time, I found myself in an extremely dangerous situation, narrowly avoiding a collision with other vehicles and pedestrians. I was forced to tow the car back to the dealership. It has now been 21 days, and I still do not have my car back.
My main question to General Motors is this: would you feel safe putting your own family in a car that has lost its brakes six times? If my family or I had been harmed, or if I had hit someone in this unreliable vehicle, who would be responsible?
In the past two years, my car has spent roughly six months at the dealership for repairs. I’ve called GM numerous times to request a replacement or refund, speaking to four representatives over the last 60 days, yet received nothing but delay tactics. Instead of addressing the problem, it seems they simply wanted to wear me down.
I have all service records, recorded conversations, and screenshots of OnStar warnings, ready to present to any court or potential buyer. I am sharing this review to inform others and to document my experience: I cannot trust GM’s products or customer service. No one will be accountable or responsive to your concerns.
