ECM- engine system. Diagnostic code P26C8. Chassis Control Module Requested Malfunction Indicator Lamp Illumination. The DTC is an informational DTC. The DTC indicates an emission related DTC set in the Chassis Control Module. My service transmission message came on and would not let me go into reverse or drive. The next day the check engine light was on. This vehicle is only 34,650 miles and is a 2017. I bought it on Saturday and this happened on Wednesday!

The thermostat is malfunctioning. Vehicle has less than 50,000 miles. Driving vehicle and dash warning" STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED DRIVE WITH CARE", also the temperature gauge was showing COLD and this was after driving for over 30 minutes. Contacted local dealer and was informed this is a KNOWN problem with the thermostat sticking open. If this had been in the summer the A/C would not have worked. I was informed I could bring in the vehicle to have the codes cleared and the parts would have to be ordered. Due to backlog of parts, it was unknown when the parts would be available. In searching internet there are a significant number of owners who have experienced the same issue. In consulting the mechanic, I use, I was informed this is an issue with the motor in my vehicle. The same motor is in other GMC products, and he has 3 vehicles in his shop with the same issue waiting parts.

The power steering assist was reduced with the drive with care message displayed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact about the thermostat failure, engine, and DTC: P0128. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage 43,806.

XT5 bumper-to-bumper warranty expired on 6-1-21. Both key fobs suddenly quit working on 7-17-21. Took to dealer 7-21-21. Cost me $300. Got it back on 7-26-21. Drove vehicle for the first time after getting it back on 7-28-21. Key fob quit working again briefly then started after I kept trying for a few minutes. After driving for 5 miles, the car completely died on very busy road - no steering, no dash lights, break lights - then the car suddenly braked really hard and i almost got rear-ended. 4-way flashers wouldn't work so I had no way to warn other drivers coming up behind me. I also was a sitting duck as I couldn't exit the vehicle since the doors wouldn't unlock and windows wouldn't go down. The temperature was in the 80s and I quickly began to overheat. I tried to signal other drivers who were beeping their horns and swerving around me until several pulled over to help. After approx. 10-15 minutes, as I was calling 911, the doors unlocked and I got the 4-ways to come on though they were working erratically. I called the dealership and they came and picked up the car. They've had it for a week and don't know what's wrong with it. This is a potentially deadly safety issue; I could have died or caused someone else to be injured or die due to the car suddenly losing ALL power while driving in heavy traffic with no warning, then braking hard and very unexpectedly, along with the inability to warn other drivers due to the inoperable 4-ways I also could have succumbed to hyperthermia as there was no way to escape from an extremely hot car. It appears that after doing some basic research, that this is not an isolated problem with the 2013-2017 XT5s. There are numerous reports of incidents similar or identical to mine found on various Cadillac owners online forums. Additionally, a common complaint is that this problem has not yet been solved yet by General Motors and their dealerships are at a loss to resolve this issue (they haven't been able to fix mine yet!)

I was traveling on I-95 at aprrox. 75/80 mph when my dashboard lit-up like a christmas tree and my Cadillac powered down to less than 50 mph instantly. The stabilitrak, check engine light, parking brake and car assist lights came on with a warning to "travel with care". I had to maneuver my vehicle over three lanes to get off at the nearest exit. I had no idea what just happened. There was no noise, smoke or evidence that the vehicle had a problem. However, I could only drive the car 55 mph with the foot pedal pressed to the floor board. It was 4:00 am and I was an hour from home. Instead of contacting roadside assistance, I drove the vehicle home...taking precautions. I contacted the dealership...who could not accommodate servicing my vehicle until the following morning. The following morning, all the lights were off. I dropped the vehicle off at the Cadillac dealership for service. After they checked out my vehicle and took it for a test drive (taking it up to 80 mph), I was informed that they could not find a problem. No codes were stored in the computer system. They could not duplicate what I experienced. I find that odd. I am pretty sure that when a check engine light comes on and a car malfunctions that a code would be stored. I do not feel comfortable with my vehicle. I mainly drive within my small town...not having to exceed 45 mph on a daily basis. However, I do have to travel on the interstate for work 2-3 times a month. I am very uneasy about having to drive on the interstate at high speeds in heavy traffic again. I was not given confidence or comfort from the service department. This whole experience has left me disenchanted with this Cadillac. I can't get out of it and buy or trade-in on something new at this time. I feel I should have received better service and reassurance. Cause unknown. With the engine just turned off and vehicle stationary in a garage, I leaned into the rear compartment to retrieve articles and the vehicle moved forward. Once again L leaned into the rear and it moved forward. I then started the engine, did not put it into gear, but simply turned it off. I leaned into the rear and once again the vehicle moved forward.

The contact owns a 2017 Cadillac XT5. When the brake pedal was depressed, it traveled to the floorboard and the gear shifter would not move into park. Also, the service engine, service stabilitrak, service transmission, and entire instrument panel warning indicators were illuminated. The battery was disconnected and reconnected and the vehicle was able to shift into park; however, it unintentionally went back into drive. The vehicle was towed to plaza Cadillac (8893 us-441, leesburg, fl 34788, (352) 787-1323) where the chassis control, engine, transmission, and range control modules were reprogrammed. After the repair, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when placing the gear shifter in park. Also, while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled while rolling to a complete stop. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road where it was restarted and functioned normally. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that other vehicles were experiencing the same failure. The failure mileage was 16,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Cadillac XT5. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate and the check engine indicator illuminated without warning. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the roadway and the vehicle stalled. In addition, the vehicle shook while the contact attempted to accelerate. North bay Cadillac in rosslyn, New York was made aware of the failure and performed an engine control module replacement, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

My car is equipped with the auto stop feature to save fuel. I works fine but is very unsafe on hills here in seattle. Two weeks ago I was stopped at a light on a hill and the engine turned off. I had a free right so I stepped on the gas pedal, there was a delay but before I could take my foot off the accelerator my car lunged forward in the intersection almost striking a pedestrian who was J walking. The next incident happened today when I was at a 4 way stop on a hill. There was a car on my left that was waiting for me to go since it was my turn and I stepped on the pedal and there was a delay so I pushed harder. The other car thought I was waiting for them so they went and then my car lunged forward and came within a foot of hitting them. They were not too happy and gave me a well deserved finger gesture. I believe my car may cause an accident because of this. The dealer said they could not turn off the feature. I called the Cadillac company and filed a complaint but have not heard from them. I would like to have the feature turned off. I know its for gas mileage but I can afford the gas.

My 2017 XT5 completely shutdown on my on Saturday, 10/7. I was at a stop light & when I pressed the accelerator, the instrument cluster had a number of lights come on & the vehicle was very hard to accelerate. I had to pull over immediately & then the car shut down. It was completely dead: The hazard lights did not work (very scary) & onstar and the sos button would not connect. After about 5-10 minutes, onstar was connected & I was told not to drive the vehicle due to engine & transmission codes. The vehicle was towed the dealer by roadside. On Monday, the dealer provided me with a loaner while the diagnosed the vehicle. On 10/11, when I went to pick-up the vehicle, I was told the issue was a 'logic lock, ' the car was driven for 4 miles & considered fixed. I refused the car as we need to know the root cause. The dealer still has my car and has not contacted Cadillac yet. I am still waiting to hear from them and also have a case opened with Cadillac customer care, but they are less than helpful. The poor customer service is one issue, but the greater issue is the safety of my car and the fact that it completely died on me and the dealer thinks clearing some codes will resolve it. Please help. God forbid this happens to me or someone else again. It is completely unsafe.

While driving 30mph on city street engine made loud roaring noise and dramatically slowed itself down to almost a stop as if I slammed on brakes. I had vehicle(1715 mileage) towed to dealership. They kept it 2 days and told me nothing was wrong. I picked up car and while driving home the engine made loud noise and dramatically slowed down once again. The next day I took my car to another dealership hoping they could repair vehicle. They kept car for 14 days and told me they could not duplicate concern and did not repair. So I picked up car hoping it would not happen again. It did happen 3 more times. One incident happened while driving through intersection on city street engine made loud roaring noise and abruptly slowed itself down to almost a stop. But in this instance when I stepped on accelerator to drive forward to get out of intersection the car would not move, it froze. Luckily I did not get hit in the back. I waited, turned car off, and then turned it on. I was able to drive home. I took car back to dealership on 7/19/17 explaining the car was unsafe since these problems are erratic and I could get hit in the back when the vehicle slows down to a stop in the middle of traffic. They kept car for 9 days called and told me they could not find problem so they wanted their loaner back. I was afraid to drive car back home so the dealer delivered car to my house and took back loaner on 7/28/17. It has been in my garage since then since I fear for my safety and my family and will not drive car fearing I'll get hit while driving if the vehicle malfunctions again. I never get a warning of any sort before it happens. After it happens and I turn the car off and on again the vehicle seems perfect. But I never know when it will break again since it is erratic. It is definitely a safety hazard.

The cars auto shutoff shuts off the instant that the car stops, at stop signs, the car shuts off can then starting to preceed hesitates as it starts. This could cause a misjudgement in the ability to enter the traffic flow and result in an accident. The feature is not adjustable.
