Had a car stop short in front of me so I did a fairly hard braking and was able to stop without incident. Immediately following the tachometer, and speedometer went crazy fluctuating wildly. Then a message appears saying the steering system was compromised, the parking brake light came on and the check engine light also came on.

This happened previously about 3 months ago and I took it to Simmons Rockwell Cadillac in Big Flats NY and they found the computer was loaded with error codes but were unable to find the reason. I thought the problem was gone for good until it appeared last week. The Cadillac service manager said if it happens again it would be ok to drive the car, just use caution.

Well, it happened while we were on vacation in Maine, 500 miles from home. I decided to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery to see if it would clear the alarms and lights and it worked. The issue did not reoccur. I don't know what to do. The Cadillac garage was at a loss and they had my car for 3 days the last it occurred and they found nothing. Any suggestions are welcome.
