The contact owns a 1995 Cadillac Seville sts. When the contact started the vehicle, it began smoking. She opened the hood and saw flames. The dealer stated that her VIN was included in NHTSA campaign id number 04V110000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings); however, she never received a recall notice. The contact purchased the vehicle from a dealer and they did not inform her of any recalls on the vehicle. A representative from the dealer further stated that she would be responsible for all damaged parts and that they would only cover the part referenced in the recall. The failure and current mileages were 120,000.
: the contact stated after receipt of recall # 04014 (04V110000) for the fuel rail (fuel system, gasoline: Delivery: Hoses, lines/piping, and fittings), the manufacturer was contacted to find a service dealer to service the recall. The vehicle was taken to the service dealer where an inspection was made of the fuel rail. The service dealer signed off that the original part was good and did not need replacement. A month later, there was a fuel leak noticed. When the vehicle was taken to an independent dealer, the fuel rail had to be replaced. The paperwork and receipts were sent to the manufacturer, but reimbursement was denied. Updated 11/30/2006 -
The nylon tubing on the fuel rail broke which caused fuel to leak from the vehicle. Four repair shops could not locate there loss of fuel. Recall# 04V110000.
Recall campaign 04V110000/fuel rail tubing: The consumer received this recall notice, and the dealer wanted to charge him for replacing the spark plug wiring during the recall repairs.

During an inspection it was discovered that fuel tank and line rusted, mechanic stated that this was a safety issue. The fuel tank was plastic, and the gas line was metal.
While driving there was a gas odor inside the cabin of the vehicle. The consumer took the vehicle to a mechanic, who determined that there was a crack inner tubing which caused a leak. There was 2 gallons of gas underneath the engine cover. Recall 04V11000 was issued on this problem, but the vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.
