This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Sts. While driving at 10 mph, there was a abnormal clicking noise of the locks unlocking and locking coming from the front passenger side door. The contact owns a 2006 Cadillac Sts. The contact stated that the front driver's side door would open independently however, remain locked from the outside. The failure occurred when the contact left the vehicle idle for an extended time. Additionally, the fob would not unlock the door. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The manufacture was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Keyless door entry unlock fails. The outer handle has faulty wiring with many cars sent in for replacement and no recall performed yet. In this instance, the door lock failing can lock the driver in the car during an accident or fire and, if the person is unresponsive due to the accident, someone on the exterior of the car cannot enter through the drivers door. This poses a significant safety risk that has yet to be addressed. Through my research, it commonly affects 2005 & 2006 Cadillac Sts model cars with the keyless entry & keyless ignition.
