There was a recall on the low beam headlight plug assembly on the 2010 Srx. The faulty plug would cause the lowbeam headlights to not function. The plug would allow for the high beams to work properly but the plug would not allow the halogen lowbeam said to work. David taylor supposedly fixed this problem however a few years later the lowbeam headlights became completely inoperable causing the driver to have zero visibility while using the headlights. The highbeams would work perfectly. I argued with the dealer that it had something to do with the plug however they insisted that the problem was that the light assembly because of faulty manufacturing allowed water to enter the low beam lens and in turn cloud the lens. I insisted otherwise because there was visible condensation in the headlight assembly but none in the low beams. Unfortunately this situation had me over a barrel because the driver had already been risking their life and other drivers lives on the road while being forced to drive with only high beams or without any illumination of the road way at all. I had no choice but to spend 1500 dollars on headlights. Now regardless of the reason whether it was a faulty manufactured plug or a faulty sealed manufactured headlamp assembly the problems it poses are the same. Cadillac has a poorly manufactured headlight assembly and plug assembly that are endangering people's lives. When these low beams become inoperable the driver has zero visibility and are forced to choose between driving with their highbeams on and blinding other drivers or driving without any headlights which could cause death or bodily harm to the driver or any property or persons that the driver cannot see. Cadillac knows they have a problem but are willing to risk people's lives in order to save a few dollars. They have a faulty product that the NHTSA should resolve before there is loss of life

The contact owns a 2010 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that the low beam headlight assembly failed to work for the low beams. The contact had to use the high beam headlights as an interim repair each time the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The front light headlight assembly seals wore out and the headlight blew out while we were driving home in the rain, at night. Water penetrated the headlight which is what caused the lamp to blow out. I called GM and they played dumb and said they had never heard of this problem. Yet as I was at the dealership to get it fixed there were other 2010 models driving in with the exact same problem. GM would not extend the warranty to cover this, as the warranty was over 4 years but still under the 50K miles. At $1400 each to replace these headlights, they need to fix this defect. Additionally, they are going to kill someone if these headlights keep blowing out at nighttime in the rain.

This model has a history of collecting water in front headlights resulting in them shorting out and malfunctioning/failing. Cadillac will not recall and they are very much aware of this problem.

Vehicle has a moon roof design that utilizes drain tubes to direct water away from the roof area. The drain system failed allowing rain water to enter the passenger compartment. Water soaked the floor area where wiring was routed to the rear of the vehicle. This caused the wiring harness to fail due to water contamination at the connection points. Rear hatch began to open uncontrollably on multiple occasions. Rear hatch finally failed and would not open under any circumstances. After researching this I found that this is happening to other owners of this type of vehicle.

The right exterior low beam light was out and the housing unit was full of excessive moisture. On September 2, 2014; bulb replaced; light out again by the end of the month for a week then all of a sudden back on again; then out again and on again; estimated cost of parts were $1,459 plus tax and S.S. now only the running lights on the left and right side are working. Now try 1,459 plus tax and S.S.. times 2. this is a design flaw. Why so much moisture an electrical lightening unit? the left side does not have a lot of moisture and the light is no longer working. Nothing more upsetting than being away from home, its dark and your vehicle headlights will not come on.

The dashboard panel which displays the backup camera is very erratic. As I put the car in reverse it may or may not rise to display what is behind. If it does rise it may go up and down several times while backing up thus rendering this safety feature (the backup camera) totally useless if not dangerous.

Water drain from moon roof separated and water fluid ed the vehicle short in out many components. Took in for service had to pay $1900. This should have been covered I feel that this repair should have been completed at no cost to me. Being that there were at least five other vehicles in the same dealer repair shop at the same time. Spoke to the technician repairing the car before mine and was told he knew actually what the problem was. He showed me that the drain tube came from the factory pulled to short and tight and when there is a heavy rain the run off caused the tubing that run down the front windshield end pillars to separate which then leads to water filling the interior cabin of the vehicle, in between the doors, over the dash and it's interior components, down into the lift gate and onto the interior flooring which it had and flooding it.

The idiot light or gauge light came on indicating that there was an electrical problem. We brought the vehicle right back to the used car dealer and he sent the vehicle down the block to the GM dealer who found some corroding wires, he supposedly fixed them. A couple days later the light came on again and w brought the vehicle back to the used car dealer who again brought it to the dealer where the Cadillac was found to be heavily corroded in the harness area by the drivers side.. they told us that there might have been a leaf clog by the windshield and the wipers preventing proper drainedge. And the water backed up into the car. They supposedly changed the harness under the drivers mat. A couple of months later we noticed that the whole drivers sidewindow was very wet..we dismissed this incident with a mutual befuddlement. A couple of months later the whole drivers side window was frozen on the inside of the car. Weekend of figured it had something to do with the drivers window being wet month earlier. Now here it is in March of 2014 and my wife was looking for something in the car and she happened to touch the passenger front floor matt right after a heavy rain and she found the floormat soaked she got out the wet-dry vac and pulled near a half a gallon of water from the rug underneath the floor mat.

Loss of power steering, brakes, and engine while doing 65 mph on major highway. Total shutdown. Went immediately to dealer. Checked car computer. Said everything was fine; nothing to fix. Really shook up wife passenger and me. Has not happened again. Am reporting this years later because of current GM compact car ignition problems.

Vehicle has an electric operated rear hatch. Vehicle was in the garage, not running and wife had opened the rear hatch and was removing items from the back when the hatch activated and closed on it's own, knocking her down and pinning her under the lid. She managed to free herself but received bruises on her arm and a sore neck.

This is a generic safety defect applicable to all Cadillac vehicles for last several years and other makes with keyless ignition systems. This has happened before and will happen again if not remedied. I visited a post office today in dayton area. This location has some sort of strong frequency operation in the area evidently on same frequency as fob starting systems. I was unable to lock my car (key does work) or unlock it with fob (again key in door operates door locks). However the fob simply did not start car despite several efforts or after instructions to put in console next to receiver. Had this been an emergency I would have been unable to leave the area. The car finally did start but only after a period of time and numerous attempts. If the fob does not register with the system there is no way to start the car. Door has key access the rest of the ignition system does not. This is extremely unsafe and needs to E addressed. This is not an isolated incident as to either this location or make and model of car.

One of first new Srxs sold in 2009. Started with intermittent failure of power windows, followed by failure of nav/radio display and eventually replaced. Then issues with back-up camera screen would not pop up during reverse so could not see or use camera. Technicians unable to diagnose problems because the connection port to car's computer failed. Seats ripped out and connection rebuilt. Auto rear tailgate with safety sense close failed as I reached into get package out as tailgate went up. Supports failed causing tailgate to crash down on me trapping me with legs out back of car. Not only did supports strut fail but safety close mechanism failed. Wife had to manually release and raise tailgate to free me. Then ac failed on way back from long trip. Computer issue and part failure according to dealer. Camera and info screen locked up again and was repaired. Two weeks ago while traveling on highway approx. 65 mph engine started shaking completely out of sync with cylinders banging and decrease engine power light came on. Without warning and not hitting brakes suddenly lost speed and was almost run over by truck behind us because of abrupt deceleration. Barely had enough power to get off and up exit ramp. Turned out to be computer failure for engine. Last weekend while backing up watching mother and child through back-up camera pass behind me, camera failed screen went blank but still showed park assist symbols. Screen would not clear but symbols frozen on screen when shifted into drive. Went to home depot came out, car would not sense remote unable to start. Had same issue 1 year previous and remotes replaced. Put remote everywhere in car still could not start. Asked Cadillac to ensure me car was safe. They said they could not. Asked to get another car until end of lease or out of lease. They said no. I am worried car may have safety failure.

I was rear-ended while I was stopped in traffic. There was minor damage to my rear bumper however this caused numerous issues with my car immediately thereafter. I experienced numerous electrical issues and then it got worse. I lost steering, brakes and and the engine stalled. The car became immobile and had to be towed to the dealership. After they serviced the vehicle, they found that the battery shorted out and the ECU had failed. I believe that because the problems occurred immediately after the collision that it was the collision that triggered them. I feel that this is a design flaw that could be very dangerous in such a situation.
