Just replaced a catalytic converter and then I start seeing smoke coming from my front hood. Took the car in only to find out my AC compressor had to be replaced. Had no choice, I was told I could severely damage the car if I continued to drive it that way. No warranty coverage. Had to borrow from credit cards to pay for this with expected payback by May 2014. And, I had to replace the battery which is why I went to the dealership that day.
I went to Better Business Bureau and US Attorney General's office and complained that there were just too many major issues on this car with such low mileage and that I wanted GM to make good on it or help me out as I could not afford these expenses.
The money I borrowed from credit cards was supposed to be paid back by May 2014 and I could not do it. My part time hours were reduced thanks to you know who in DC. I had to buy health insurance, even though I had good coverage which was eliminated in 2014, thanks to you know who. I ended up with a debt reduction firm and am currently in a program that will attempt to reduce my balances on 3 major credit cards and negotiate a settlement. I have never had to do something like this before. It is very humiliating and I don't think that I will ever buy another GM car because of this experience and I've driven GM for 48 years.
