GM is fully aware of this problem. It's on many online posts and blogs and fix-it videos. I would love to have an attorney call me to get this listed on the recall list or class-action suit. call me at 410-546-2857 to open a civil or class action suit. It's not just an annoyance. It's a safety issue. I've been issued 3 traffic citations already... and that's AFTER I've repaired them. I carry receipts of repairs in my car to show police. The main issue is negligent design. The ballast (the electronic component that changes voltage from 12 volts to 30,000 to ignite the HID) is located at the bottom of the headlight assembly. When moisture condenses, it falls to the bottom and leaks onto the ballast, shorting it out. Which I've replaced, along with 2 $100 HID bulbs. It's an easy fix if recalled. Seal the lights and seal the ballast connection. Shouldn't cost GM that much. Now, both lights are out and I'm driving with fog lights- yeah, real safe. Now, I'm looking to replace both at a cost of $950 per headlight- just to get some made by DELCO that will probably lead again. Worse thing is, you have to take the damn bumper off to get the defective headlights off. Not like the Denali I used to own. that was easy. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL OR SHOULD BE A FREE FIX SINCE IT IS AN NATSB ISSUE!!!!
