This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have harsh shifts concerns. Technicians will use Global Diagnostic System 2 software to confirm which shift is causing the concern. On low mileage vehicles technician are instructed to perform a drive learn procedure. On higher mileage vehicles technicians are instructed to remove the transmission fluid pan and inspect for debris. If debris is found in the pan, technicians should disassemble and inspect for root cause of the concern and repair the transmission as needed. If no debris is found technicians are advised to replace the valve body.
