loss of control on interstate highway

While I was driving our car at a high rate of speed (68 to 72 mph) in the left most lane on rte 295 south in NJ I had my vehicle start turning left (not a hard turn but more like a lane change type of drift) into the median area. I was very close to losing it and flipping if I drifted another 2 to 3 feet as I would had went into a gully type green belt (approx 30 ft wide with a grade change of approx 3ft in center which is used for draining) The weather at the time was light to moderate rain off and on but there had been no puddles or pools of water formed (so no chance of it being a hydroplaning incident). Being in shock I tried to pull the vehicle right to avoid the drift from pulling me further into median area where as I would have hit soil and grass, to pull right it had to turn the wheel enough to avoid tragedy; As I was struggling to regain control of the vehicle I found that to bring it back to straight or back into the lane the slight turn of the wheel turned out to be an overcompensation due to the condition because the vehicle returned back to normal during my drift right. This occurrence or correction made by the vehicle caused me to shift 2 lanes to the right and just luckily I didn't fall into an uncontrolled spin due to the drastic right turn and wet road conditions.

This problem was enough to scare the hell out of me, thank god it were me and not my wife or daughter driving at the time; I am also very thankful that traffic was a few hundred yards ahead on me and nearly a half a mile behind me. I will continue my research online to find a hopeful remedy to this very hazardous issue. If I find I will definitely post it for others to see and hopefully have corrected before a serious injury or fatality occurs.

This is definitely an issue that clarifies just cause for the manufacturer to create a recall and inform current owners that service must be completed or at least have a qualified service representative check their vehicle. If this is an issue with the steering pump the lot numbers within the collective model year should be checked against defect and changed out. Good luck everyone and I sincerely hope this problem doesn't burden your door. Stay safe, Walt Butler NJ
