The contact owns a 2005 Cadillac Deville. While driving 10 mph, the brake pedal was released and the vehicle accelerated without the contact depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact depressed the brake pedal and was able to stop the vehicle and avoid a crash. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed of NHTSA campaign number: 14V355000 (electrical system) and was waiting for parts to arrive to have the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 173,000.
