The contact owns a 2002 Cadillac Deville. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off without warning. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 55000. Updated 10/13/09. Updated 10/13/09
Vehicle serviced last at 77,024 miles. At 79,592 vehicle checked by Cadillac dealer and found "no oil in engine causing severe internal engine damage".
2002 Deville bought is used with 46,000 miles after driving it 1,500 miles I noticed it used 3 quarts of oil. Everyone I ask says it is excessive and I agree I can not get this taken care of on my own and I owe too much money on the car to get rid of it. Cadillac should fix this problem I have talked to other individuals and they had the same problem with one car having blown the engine. He now drives a Toyota avalon.
The contact stated the vehicle burned oil excessively. He had to add a quart of oil every 750 miles. Took the vehicle to the dealership multiple times. The dealership replaced the piston rings on April 4, 2005. After the piston ring replacement there was a reduction in oil consumption. T two service bulletins 1358091 and 1396266. The bulletins stated oil should only have to be added after every 2,000 miles. The vehicle is still under warranty. The contact specifically found many complaints on the same type of vehicle.

Problems with cruise control and air bag light. The cruise control light on the steering wheel remained lit, often for several days. The air bag light illuminates intermittently but the dealer indicated that nothing could be done unless the light was on when the vehicle was bought to the dealer. The power steering pump has been replaced, the engine block cracked. The driver's seat failed.
While driving and with no warning, the vehicle stalled, which made the vehicle difficult to control.. this almost cause an accident on two occasions. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer on numerous occasions in which they replaced the crack sensor several times.
