The passenger side seat belt malfunctioned. The lock mechanism broke on impact. While turning onto a street the driver didn't have time to avoid a vehicle that was parked on the side of the road and as a result the driver rear ended the vehicle. The front passenger seat belt lock mechanism broke on impact. Both the driver and passenger sustained injuries.
