This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have random misfires or roughness on cold start. Technician will need to fill the vehicle with fresh fuel and test drive for 20 miles. If the roughness or random misfire is gone then no further repairs should be attempted. If the Service Engine Soon light is on or flashing, after filling with fresh fuel and operating the vehicle as described, the spark plugs may need to be inspected for fouling and replaced as needed.
