I have a 2009 Cadillac CTS that was purchased brand new! This car has been garage kept and just hit 30,000! Although we had the extended warranty, because of the years it is not covered. As they took the transfer case off, realized that the transmission too needs to be replaced. I am pissed off!!! One would think that Cadillac would want to stand behind their vehicles however I guess that I am wrong. Yes, I understand that everything has a cut off however when you have a vehicle that only has 30,000 miles on it and for something this major to fail and I am not the only person that has had this problem, Cadillac needs to step up.

The transfer case failed while I was driving. The wheels stopped turning and the car would not move. It was towed to a local Cadillac dealer. The transfer case problem stripped the spindle and damaged the transmission. So the transfer case had to be replaced, a new spindle and the transmission had to be rebuilt. Cadillac refused to see this as a recallable defect even though I was able to locate other similar issues at this mileage with this model.

Once I gave approval for the repair it took 11 days to get all the parts and rebuild the transmission. I only got a one year warranty on the repair. Val Ward Cadillac in Fl. did the repair as I was in Florida on vacation. They were very hard to deal with and acted like they were doing me a favor by fixing the car. Even though we had agreed on a price they still tried to charge me an extra $1000.00 once it was done. I feel this car should be recalled!

Complete 2009 Cadillac CTS AWD transfer case failure at 60 mph in center lane of heavily traveled three lane I-70 at I-79 in Washington, PA. causing no power to drive axles. Nearly suffered four life threatening rear end collisions before coasting vehicle to right berm. Two and one-half hour wrecker wait while unable to exit driver's door due to traffic. Seems as though GM didn't sufficiently harden transmission output shaft allowing stripping of transfer case drive splines at 55,000 miles. (Known problem) Eight days in shop 285 miles from home while awaiting repairs. Did get courtesy vehicle, but as of yet, no reimbursement for room and board expenses. Stay away from Cadillac AWD! Also, previous warranty engine timing chain replacement and headlight electrical connectors.
