The frontal passenger side airbag works through a sensor in the front seat. It senses weight applied to the seat and turns the airbag capability on for the frontal passenger airbag. My airbag light stays lit on the dash and the passenger side air bag light on the rear view mirror displays that the airbag is off whether or not the seat is occupied. The NHTSA has a campaign id # 10V644000 covering this same scenario. When calling the Cadillac dealer for my 2007 Cadillac Cts, they have no information for the NHTSA campaign number. I called the NHTSA hotline where I acquired the GM recall number of 100355. After returning my call to the dealer and have given them the GM recall number, I am told that this recall does not apply to my car and a $99 diagnostic fee would apply. The NHTSA summary clearly outlines my problem, consequences and the sopposed actions my dealer should take to remedy the recall. How can I be certain the information my dealer has given is indeed correct? at first, the service writer seemed confident that there may be a "recall fix". after more conversation it seemed to stray more towards a possible Cts-V recall which replaces a glovebox in case the airbag fails, to cause less damage to the passenger, in case of a frontal collison. I am concerned, not only that the passenger airbag may be disengaged, but this may affect the airbag system as a whole. Any information that can be given on this topic would be appreciated.
