I recently just experienced a catastrophe with my 2007 Cadillac CTS. I had not heard about any timing chain recalls, nor had my dealership notified me. My car has only 50,000 miles on it and my timing chain broke while on the interstate going 70mph, it caused significant damage.

Prior to this happening I took my car up to the local Cadillac dealership when my check engine light was on. When it said something about the cam shaft they replaced a sensor. Then when it read other codes (I am unsure of which) they assured me everything would be fine. My check engine light would come on intermittently. I am a female and feel like I was blown off. Now my car is in another city in pieces with a huge bill in order to fix it. I have a claim out to GM, still waiting to hear back.

The local Cadillac dealership has not been helpful. They just quoted me an even more expensive price to fix the car. There is no paperwork stating they cleared my check engine light. They would clear it but not document it. Wishing now I would have made sure about documentation.

Anyone have any suggestions? I went as far as to call a salvage yard in desperation to get some money for my car since I can’t afford the experience to fix it.

Simply taking my vehicle in for oil change on Oct. 29, 2009, my service engine light came on. I purchased the vehicle new, in 2006; it was a 2007 model year. I trusted the dealership, Cadillac, and everyone else involved. I have documented 37 pages of repair work. The timing chain apparently collapsed. Speaking to Cadillac reps. every day until Feb. 1 2010, I had to turn over the car. At this point, being a student, I decided to contact the BBB. They were no help. Cadillac strung out the situation claiming that I no longer owned the car. This mind you, was because it was at the dealership on the hydraulic rack ripped apart. I had to withdraw from my senior year of college, and have to appeal to return due to the constant breaking down of my car. I loved that car, and cannot believe the way I was treated. I worked my "tail" off to buy my first Cadillac ever. After speaking with 5 different Cadillac reps, (no lawyer), the reps were very convincing that everything would be okay. That was 5 months ago!! Now I have no Cadillac, and the BBB will not review the case because I no longer have possession of the car. I never asked for anything other than my car to be fixed, it was still under warranty. The representatives from Cadillac simply kept passing me to other departments and never gave me an answer. The service manager handling the case has since been fired; I had nothing to do with this. Apparently this is happening to others. Please help to file a complaint against people who have intent to do the wrong thing. What has happened to people? I am now poor and without a car, just because I went to get my car, named Damien, an oil change. Don't we own GM? I voted Obama. Where is justice? It's unfortunate that people lie on a daily basis to save a dollar they will never see. All the dollars that I saved to buy a 2007 CTS were used to buy what I thought was the car of my dreams. I now have nothing, and nothing is fine when you know you did nothing but trust people. I hope that the Cadillac representatives can sleep at night; I could never knowingly treat another person the way I was treated. Deception is evil, and irony ensues, my CTS being named Damien.
