Well I bought the car and was a moron when purchasing it like this. We thought it was the timing belt, but it was crankshaft misalignment and a bad timing chain that jacked up a lot. The car makes a terrible noise up front, and after 5 minutes of driving REALLY starts acting up! This is apparently happening to many different people with this car. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Shame too because it is such a nice looking car!

I would suggest Googling CTS 3.6L v6 timing chain. They used the same engine in the Cadillac SRX as well.

I really enjoyed my 2006 CADILLAC CTS. I was driving to a hair appointment my car had been running a bit rough for the past several days, I attributed it to maybe I receive some bad gas. Car running smoothly to my destination, I get into my car start the engine and it starts to shake all over the place, I turn it off and turned it back it no real difference. A few days earlier my coolant light had come on, so I put in some coolant, not sure why because there seemed to be plenty in there. I also checked my oil, and there was oil in the car.

Well as I was driving home after my destination indicated above, driving down the street, the car suddenly starts to slow down as if I had put on the brakes. I pressed the gas pedal, and it move slightly bit faster. Engine running rough and kind of loud. I pull off the road into a CVS parking lot, backed up my car and the brakes did not want to work. So I parked the car where I was, turned off the engine and called a towed truck to the nearest auto repair. Tow truck driver turned on the car to get it to position to load on his truck, first time it barely started, second time it was a wrap, it would not start.

I was told on Monday, 7/10/2017 that the Timing had jumped and I had a bad motor, no power. Mechanic stated he was getting all sorts of codes for the Timing, he says there is nothing he can do, the motor was dry no oil. the Mechanic even stated that the car would not start.. It was told to me that there is a class action lawsuit for these CTS motor problems, but I can't seem to find one. Does anyone know?

My husband bought this 2006 Cadillac CTS car for my birthday last year and a year later it started to act up. He paid $5,000 for it mind you, it's a beautiful vehicle and I am lost for words with my loss. The parts and repairs are very expensive and can only be repaired by Cadillac. We bought the timing belt, solenoid and a few other parts, got them put in and we got a call from the mechanic to pickup our vehicle. Well to make a long story short the vehicle was worse! North Star motor is a piece of 💩 It's a disposable motor. One thing messes up and you gotta put in a new engine! 🤦🏽‍♀️😡 I truly loved my car but now I'm devastated without a way to get around. My car lasted just a year and now I'm living a nightmare. I had to junk my car 🌹😩

This is the second time this engine has failed. 1st was at 72,500 miles. Bought the car with 67,500 miles and have all the oil change records from the dealer. After $6,900 and some change in repairs this happened again. Changed my oil every 5K to 6K miles. Have all the records as well. The repairs for the original was timing actuators and a whole lower end, replaced with GM parts and the was a 3yr 100K warranty included.

Now just under 2 years and 48K miles the same problem and I don't know if GM is going to cover this. I was told a bearing went out and it appears to me to be in the original parts that where replaced. My car has been out of service for almost a month now and I had to get a new vehicle to get back and forth to work. Of course no compensation for this and who knows if GM is going to cover the bad bearing.

I'm told I need a whole new engine because of this bearing putting shavings inside the whole engine. If they don't cover this I'm think I might have to get some sort of class action lawsuit against them, so if any of you reads want to join, respond back. I am PISSED
