THE SAFETY RESTRAINT AIR BAG LIGHT ON MY 2005 CADILLAC C.T.S. IS STAYING ON ALL THE TIME. THE REAR VIEW MIRROR INDICATOR WILL NOT SHOW WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT IS OCCUPIED. GENERAL MOTORS HAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. A FAULTY PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR. I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM ON 12/8/15 AND WAS TOLD BY THE REP THAT THERE IS A RECALL BUT LIMITED TO 10 YEAR 120000 MILE. MY VEHICLE PASSED THE 10 YEAR MARK IN MARCH BUT HAS ONLY 87000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE RECALL. I TOLD THE REP THIS AND ASKED IF THEY CONSIDER THIS A WEAR ITEM. HE SAID YES. HE TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A LOCAL GM DEALER FOR THE DIAGNOSES AND SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO.
I AM A RETIRED AUTOMOTIVE INSTRUCTOR/ TECHNICIAN 35 YEARS AND ASE MASTER TECH. I SPENT MY FIRST 10 YEARS AS A GM MECHANIC AND A RECALL IS A RECALL. NO LIMITS, THIS BEING SAFETY COULD BECOME A LEGAL PROBLEM FOR GM. I AM TOTALLY AWARE THAT A CERTIFIED DEALER MUST PERFORM THE DIAGNOSES BEFORE A FAULT IS DETERMINED BUT IT SEEMS LIKE GM IS TRYING TO AVOID THE ISSUE. IN OTHER WORDS SOAK YOU FOR THE DIAGNOSES TIME AND SAY THEY WON'T COVER IT. I TOLD THE REP THAT I WILL DO MORE RESEARCH ON THE MATTER. AGAIN A RECALL IS A FAILURE BY THE CORPORATION.
