I loved my ATS. I have a history of trading in every 2 to 3 years, but I was just over 4 years and 50,000 miles. I had recently replaced all 4 tires. Then the check engine light came on. Trying to put the car in gear, I heard a thump. Had it towed to dealership (Fitzgerald Auto Mall) and awaited diagnosis.
Was told the differential was shot and would cost $3,500 to repair/replace. I said, "That sucks. Isn't it covered under the drivetrain warranty?"
I was told that the differential is not covered under the drivetrain warranty. WTH ? I asked if they were sure. They said yes. I am in sales and needed a car asap. They gave me a decent amount of $$ for a car that was dead to me - so I bought another vehicle.
So my first gripe is with a car that becomes useless at 53,000 miles.
Second : Did the dealership mislead me? Why would the differential not be covered under the warranty? I suppose they make more money selling one new car to me then probably fixing the differential and selling the ATS (with $2,000 worth of tires on it) for a tidy profit.
Will always wonder... A shame as I had bought literally 12 vehicles from Fitzmall in the past. Not any more.
