It all starts with the temperature gauge going wacky to the cold. Then it comes back to normal. Then back to cold. And it keeps swinging back and forth, stopping in different sections. Then the check engine turns on. And after a while, if you're standing still, the gauge "gives up" and resets all the way to 120 degrees. Then the message "AC off Due to High Engine Temp." goes on the display and all the fans the car has turn on at once. Even if you turn off the vehicle, you'll still hear the fans spinning. Of course this will make the A/C inoperable.
