leaking crank seals, oil pan gasket, etc
Got an oil change (every 3000 miles). Mechanic told me that crank seal and oil pan leaked oil. He guessed about $1000 and more to repair. I contacted Buick. They sent me to a dealer about 10 miles away to get an "evaluation." $65.00. The dealer cleaned the exterior of the oil pan, etc., and put some kind of black light sensitive dye in the crankcase. They told me to drive the car for at least 50 miles and come back. I did. Dealer said there's oil leaks in the front and rear crank seals, oil pan gasket and possible corrosion at the head gasket. I rec'd no price estimate for repairs. The Buick "Regional Customer Care Expert" called me. She asked how much the repair would cost. I had no info about that since I didn't get an estimate - still have not. Then she said, "Buick won't cover any part of it." I asked why Buick sent me to a dealer, 40 miles round trip, a $65.00 fee, if you knew you weren't going to help with the repairs?" No response.
I also asked about the inside rear view mirror dimmer function that hadn't worked for years. I lived with it by just wiggling the wire harness to get the dimmer turned on. The dealer ignored it - said "you need a new mirror, $232.00." The cable is the problem, not the mirror for crying out loud!
So here I am, stuck with a car that I've taken good care of. Washed and waxed it. Changed the oil and filter and air filter regularly. Had to put a new gas tank on it because it leaked. Had to put a new window motor on it. Had it into a dealer for engine noise - the fix? Put a can of additive in the engine!!!.
What the hell is it with Buick/GM? No wonder they had to borrow a zillion dollars to keep in business. Crap like this car is a good example of the "quality" customer service they offer. Guess I'll have to go to Japan or Korea for a car with a decent warranty.
