The seat heaters in 2004 Buick Regal went into a runaway condition where the heating elements stayed on even with the ignition turned off, this caused the leather to start burning, the only way to shut if off was to go under the seat and start disconnecting wires. Car was brought to the GM dealer were they charged over $200.00 to investigate the problem, they found the problem to be the control module for the heating element had a short in it which caused power to continue through to the elements. Dealer would not do any repairs as the warranty had expired but gave an estimate of approx. $1600.00 if we wanted to pay to get it fixed.
Then filed a complaint with GM but as expected they would not do anything because the warranty had expired.
I feel that this is huge safety issue that might of caused personal injury or fire it we were able to find a way to shut down the power to the elements.
I'm very disappointed in GM not taking this issue seriously.
