The auto transmission bangs when it goes to a higher gear. I changed the fluid and filter. The magnet was full of metal dust plus three other areas in pan of dust accumulation. It ran great for less than 2,000 miles - then the problem is back! There are only 96,580 miles on the vehicle.

Park Avenue 3800

  • Automatic transmission
  • 90,000 miles

Jerky shifting is intermittent and often happens pulling away from a stop or when I have slowed down and then speeded back up. Definitely annoying and don't know what's wrong or if will get worse.

A year or so ago, the tranny for this car started to act up. After anything more than normal acceleration, as in revving up past 2,500rpms, the shifts begin to be very rough. Also, after stopping most of the way and starting to accelerate again around 5mph, the whole car jolts. Took it to multiple mechanics and they say there isn't any problem they could find.
