pretty bad
fuel system problem
This is the second time this has happened. The first time we replaced the relay and the car drove fine for about a week. We weren't even aware that it was getting hot until the car wouldn't start at the gas station,and my husband found this scorched relay. This time I was at the grocery store with my small child. My husband had to come because the car would not start. We replaced it and brought it straight home for him to assess as there was obviously a bigger problem for this to happen more than once. We checked the relay and it was so hot it literally burned my husband's hand. We parked the car and bought a new fuel pump, as many forums on-line say that the problem can be caused by a faulty fuel pump shorting out the circuit. We start the car afterwards and it still is getting too hot. I refuse to drive this car with my child in it out of fear of our safety, should the car catch fire. My husband will now have to check the fuse block for corrosion or damaged wires to see if it needs replaced, and yes my husband is a mechanic, has been for 17 years. I want to know how the engineers at Buick sleep at night knowing this design flaw puts people at risk. I bet they wouldn't want to put their families in an automobile that has the risk of catching on fire while driving down the road with their children strapped in the backseat. As soon as this problem is fixed this car is being sold. My husband has already bought me a new car...and its not a Buick. I will never buy another one again.

I STRONGLY FEEL THAT GM IS AWARE OF REPORTED ISSUES CONCERNING OUR BUICK LUCERNE CARS AND HAVE NOT BEEN CONCERNED ENOUGH OF US AS CONSUMERS AND FOR OUR SAFETY AND LIVES TO ISSUE A "MANUFACTURE RECALL". MY CAR MILEAGE IS LESS THAN 78,000 MILES AND KEPT IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, GARAGED, MAINTAINED WELL. THE COST OF REPAIR IS MOUNTING UP PER DEALERSHIP WHERE MY CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. INCLUDING LABOR, ESTIMATED COST ]WILL BE (4) $ FIGURES.

It is hard to believe that what happened is "normal". There should be a recall on this. A very costly repair for something that shouldn't have happened. I have been on a few forums looking into this problem. Many customers complaining about this. RECALL!!!!

I have a select warranty on this car that I bought on 9/29/2014 but they said the fuel pump was covered, but since the fuse block was melted at fuel pump fuse the warranty does not cover the fuse block and it will cost me $450 to replace. If the fuel pump fuse is what melted it should be under the warranty since it is what runs the engine.

Weekend of 8/16/2014. Car was cranking but would not start. On Mon. morning Aug 18 car started, I immediately drove to Haggerty Buick service dept. and was told they had to preform a diagnostic @ $62.89. No trouble found.
Aug. 23 & 24th, car would not start. Aug.25th had to have car towed to same Buick service dept. @ $140.00. The service dept. then determined there was no fuel pressure due to a melted fuse box which is not covered under my extended warranty. The technician was unable to tell me what caused the melting nor could they explain why it was not identified during the diagnostic.
This was a very costly inconvenience and I am very dissatisfied with Buick's "certified" technicians!

The car would not start in the Jonathan Lucas Garage in Charleston, SC. I took my husband to the Hollins Cancer Center, and the stress of him having 5 malignant brain tumors was enough!! Only one wrecker company could get into the garage to tow the car after waiting 3 1/2 hours in 95 degree weather! We live 130 miles from Charleston. We had to rent a car, and we must drive back to Charleston on Wednesday to pick the car up. The charges are $1,700.00 to fix the car, $300.00 to have it towed, and $150.00 to rent a car!
