Read a lot of information about this plastic manifold and gasket reacting to dexcool coolant on this 3.8 series II, was redesigned for series III. The replacement part is not plastic!

LeSabre 3.8L

I was loosing coolant so I looked on msn.com under autos and checked their reliability info:

Common problems on this vehicle are the failure of the Upper Intake Manifold and Gaskets and Oil Pan Gasket. The cost to repair the Intake Manifold and Gaskets is estimated at $421.00 for parts and $247.00 for labor. The cost to repair the Oil Pan Gasket is estimated at $46.00 for parts and $117.00 for labor. All prices are estimates based on $65.00 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax.

The problem was they used a plastic intake manifold and it would crack causing the fluid to leak into the manifold valley. If you let this go you will Hydro-lock your engine.

THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE 3.8L for several years.
