Three of the power window regulators have failed on my 2000 Buick Lesabre limited. The windows may all of a sudden just drop down and the electric motor will not close them although you can hear the motors running. I've read this is an extremely common problem and a equipment defect on Buick cars with power windows which has not been corrected. I have replaced one window regulator and the others I have just blocked the windows closed. This could be a very dangerous situation if one of the windows was to suddenly just drop down while drive in a heavy rain or over bad weather which could cause a distraction and accident.

Window regulator failure. Rear passenger side window just randomly fell down one day while I was driving. I almost never used that window. Mechanic says I need to replace the window regulator/motor assembly. This is a very common problem due to defective design of the window regulator.

I have a 2000 Buick Lesabre with 71,000 miles. The drivers side rear window was partially down and I attempted to roll it up when a loud pop sounded from the door and the window started to slowly creep further open. The plastic tab that holds the cable in place broke. The GM dealer wanted over $400 for the regulator, minus installation. I found a replacement for $125 and installed it myself. After looking at the regulator, I know the other three window regulators will also break. It is time for GM to admit they have a problem and fix these defective window regulators.

Buick Lesabre 2000 window regulator failure on the rear driverside passenger window. Car has 60,000 miles on it. Driving car and went to put up rear window and it made a strange grinding noise. Window would not roll up. Luckily the failure did not occur at high speed or adverse weather conditions. Upon research of problem it is apparent that this model vehicle has constant failures due to poorly made plastic parts. Consumers have reported multiple failures, some during inclement weather. NHTSA and GM refuse to do anything about the issue. Buick refused to even acknowledge the issue. A search on google for 2000 Lesabre window comes up with over 97,000 results, most of them coming from automotive forums with people having repeated issues with this feature. The dealerships charge customers $300 to $500 each time a failure occurs. This issue needs to be addressed through a recall. Living in Colorado if my window fails during a blizzard or adverse weather event it could cause an accident or worse death.
