I went to have the wheel hub and bearing fixed. When they put the car on the lift, they discovered the protective shield over the gas tank and the brackets were not only rusted but actually crumbled in the mechanics hand. He took a picture and showed me one piece that fell apart in his hand. He had to order the parts so I am without a car until the part comes in. It is going to cost at least 450.00 dollars to fix and 509.00 dollars for the wheel bearing and hub. I don't understand it. I keep my car clean undercarriage and all. What can be done to avoid this from happening again? And is there any rebate on this problem?
