Issue has happened several times over the last month. Since getting a new battery, car starts itself and runs fine until the next instance. I have noticed the fuel consumption reading jumps down a couple of tenths. Conditions are not always the same. They range over the gambit of what has been described in previous notices.

I live on a major highway and when backing out of my driveway the car completely died , luckily it started right back up , but on my way to work driving 60 it died completely AGAIN , started right back up pulled into local grocery store and stalled , made it to my dads turned it off , started right back up so I went to go to work and stalled again . I had to have it towed because it wouldn't start back up , it is currently in the garage hoping they can figure it out BUT I am petrified to ever drive it again because this is very dangerous the way it just shuts down, someone is going to get killed with this problem !!!!

I'm driving to my mother house on a Sunday August 27 evening going about 15mph down a rural road and my engine just shuts down! not to mention the same week my car was having trouble starting or would not turn over to start. On Saturday August 26th 2017 my daughter drives it to O'Realys auto part to get something for her car, get back in to leave and it wouldn't crank. A mechanic from O'Realiys auto part hook it up to the diagnostic machine to see if it would tell him the problem and he stated the computer said "it was a delay in starting up". So he started moving some wires around on the starter trying to see if that would help and it did, but he suggested a new starter and I bought one and gotten it put on the same day. It started just fine when installed and the next day going to my mother is when the engine just shut down on me while driving. So I looked up issues with 2010 Buick lacrosse and I was shocked with people having the same issues I'm having. Then I went to see if Buick did a recall on these cars since people are reporting the engine just shutting down while driving and to my surprise No there were no recalls on this matter. This is very dangerous and a serious matter. What is Buick waiting on to fix these issues, a person or a whole family getting killed before they do something about their defective products?

I am an electrical/aircraft certification engineer with significant safety analysis experience and a pretty good auto mechanic that has always maintained my own cars. Concerning this sudden shut down problem, I have not yet found the reason it happens. In the meantime, I have found that if you position the key to the OFF position (without having removed the key), disconnect the negative terminal of the battery for about 10 seconds, replace the terminal, the car will start and function as if nothing has never happened. It always gives an instruction for lowering and raising in sequence the driver's window then the passenger's window. One thing I have noticed when it happens is that it is a hot day, near 90 degrees. I thought I had isolated the problem to a hard right turn while accelerating, which has happened three times, but I have never been able to cause the problem when intentionally trying to. This problem I would classify as A "SERIOUS SAFETY EVENT", I don"t think GM cares.

Purchased this vehicle June 2016, it had only 42,300 miles at time of purchase. I bought the car from a reputable trusted auto dealer in town, it was my first newer vehicle in nearly 14 years. Today I am happy to be alive after nearly being killed on a major highway here in town. I was traveling 50 miles an hour when suddenly my car just "shut off" like someone just flipped a switch. I had no brakes, steering, virtually no control of my vehicle at all.

This is not the first time this has happened to me with my Lacrosse. However this is the first time traveling 50 miles an hour. The first time I was leaving the garage and it happened in my driveway, I waited a few minutes and it started right up, the second time I stalled pulling out of my neighborhood, same thing I waited a few minutes and it started up again, then it started getting crazy.

The third time It stalled close by a Big O tire store and the guys helped me get the vehicle out of the roadway in into their parking lot. It was really an effort because you have no steering capability whatsoever. The guys were able to bring out a mobile diagnostic device and hook up to the car under the dash, after about 30 min it revealed there was nothing wrong with the car but yet they had no explanation to what they had seen first hand. After about an hour they tried to start the engine again and it started right up, this time the center indicator on dash (computer panel) advised us we had to power down both the driver side and passenger side windows and then power them up!

The mechanics at this Big O tire store had never seen anything so crazy in their lives. So, we did it and the car started and I drove to work with no further problems. The fourth time I was stuck at the most traveled intersection in Boise waiting for the light to turn green and when the light changed I engaged the gas pedal and the car just died.

Auto club and the local police department came to my rescue and the car had to be towed to a local repair shop, there they told me I needed a new battery which I purchased for $200.00 and an hour later was on my way. I thought my issue had been resolved once and for all. Today 7/17/2017 I was in the center lane of a major highway in town where speed limit is 50 miles an hour, naturally cars are passing me at 70, all of a sudden the car shut off completely and while moving at a rate of 50 miles an hour I had no steering and no brakes, I could only go in a straight direction, I got to say I am a sixty year old man and I was scared stiff.

Thankfully the car directly in front of me changed lanes at the last minute which gave my car time to reduce speed and eventually come to a complete stop. other drivers stopped also and came to my drivers side door thinking I had a medical emergency or something. I could not open the windows and had to release the door lock manually. The police came and pulled up behind me re-directing traffic on this heavily traveled road. Auto club arrived about 30 minutes later and my car was towed to the dealer in which I purchased it from.

The dealership shuttle brought me home tonight and I await the results of their investigation into what caused this so many times. I am a bit irritated with Buick as I have tried contacting them to understand what is causing my vehicle to behave in this matter. The Buick is a beautiful car and well taken care of. I now have 44k miles on this La Crosse that's it! Today the GMC/Buick dealership handed me a notice of charges of $110.00 just to look at the car.

After reading some of the other similar complaints from Lacrosse owners I wish there was a way to file some sort of lawsuit as a group. I hope that others will read my story, I am so thankful that this was a day I did not need to pick up my granddaughter and that know one was injured from this, just a lot of rattled nerves! My guess the dealership will keep the car a few days and tell me there is nothing wrong! -MS

Hello to all Buick Lacrosse owners. I have a 2010, well maintained Buick Lacrosse. Buick Lacrosse is such a gorgeous car but it does have some serious issues that need serious attention. I believe that Buick is stalling just like the car!!!! in looking into this seriously. One year ago exactly in September the 4th 2015. car turned on fine and then all the door locks started going wild. the locks were going up and down numerous amounts of times! All engine lights went on, park assist started blinking. lights from the shift panel was turned off! No power! when you tried to move the shifting gear into park or reverse - NO RPM were registering, no gas was being offered so you cant move the car in any direction. when driving the car will suddenly stall right where you are!!!! same scenario! Door locks go up and down, Engine lights go on, Park Assist blinks and you suddenly lose RPMs no and you lose complete engine power! if you turn vehicle on again it will start to choke and stall. Buick said that It never has heard of this problem and that it did not have any such cases. I looked at Buick cases with same car and model and found some cases with the same issue and even a video. Buick adviser laughed and told me the car seems possessed! sad. that does not fix serious issues. I had to have my car looked at by different mechanics because Buick refused to acknowledge a seriousness. I lost a lot of money. I was left on my own with a problem that is completely out of my control.

I opened a Buick case file with them.

September 18 2016! Buick Lacrosse stalls again! OnStar recognizes the seriousness of the issue and starts the process to have the vehicle towed to the nearest GM dealer. (after hours on a Sunday!) vehicle locks went crazy all on its own many many times, engine lights went on, park assist blinking, shifting panel lights are off and when you shift to drive the engine has no power! No RPM are available. Tow man had a hard time trying to move the car from its position in the parking lot. I used OnStar, Geico, and Buick and everyone was helping with this serious matter EXCEPT Buick. My vehicle was towed by onstar to the nearest GM dealer, Geico looked for rentals but everything was closed so offered me a cab home. I called the dealer in the morning and said that the car would need Buick authorization even for them to start looking into it. that they would call me back. I called Buick again and they placed me with an adviser and the adviser told me that they had closed this case last year. I told them it is the same problem and told me that that employee no longer works for them. sorry. that they would work on this immediately and get back to me and the dealer. its now Friday and my car is still at the Buick dealership just sitting there. Buick and the dealership has now refused to look at my car and this issue. Buick and the dealership has not provided me with any help or assistance, no rental or tow. Im on my own with this again. they reopened the case file they told me but as of today, I believe this case is closed again for them because they told me that they never heard of any such cases and that the car has 122000 miles. that this is something I would have to look into and take care of all on my own again! I don't believe in any part that Buick is looking into my interests, concerns and safety. I now have to tow my vehicle out of the dealership and I need to find other sources on my own. the rental again is on me because well it was not a car accident. onstar and geico could not believe Buick just ignored everything. this is serious and I feel Buick wont look into it until tragic has a high number of cases on their case files. so, this is a serious issue with the car. it is well known in the internet and Buick case files, like I said there is even video footage of this happening. And they told me they never heard of anything like this with these cars!

My wife and I are now afraid to drive the car. Have taken car to the same dealer 3 times now and they indicate that they fail to find anything wrong. Last visit they had the car for a week and said they they had replaced the negative battery cable and had fixed a couple of loose wires and was told that they felt the problem was 99% fixed. The time before I was told that I wouldn't have to be back for at least 5 years after GM recommended that they apply some lubricants to some wire connections as this would prevent them from getting too hot. Luckily, the car hasn't died while on the highway or going at higher speeds as the car loses all power and control.

The dealer has been helpful, however, the problem persist. Yesterday, the car died again and I had to leave the car at a friend's house about 45 miles away.

I'll be back on the phone shortly with the dealer to let them know about the problem again.
