Received letter from GM in June in reference to HDM issue but was told not to take it to dealership unless I was sure I was having a problem. I realized in August I had a serious issue, called Buick Dealer to set up appt. for 9/1/17, go to appt. then the "fun" starts with "the recall is for the Regal", "you just missed the warranty it ended on your car 8/23/17".

My car has 124000 mi. and was under the 12 year cutoff so I go home call GM on the 800 number and the "fun" starts all over again. "we will take down your information including fiasco at dealership and someone will get in touch with you after the holiday" which I'm thinking I will hear from them around 9/6 or 9/7 needless to say, that didn't happen. I received a e-mail from GM on 9/12 telling me they tried to call me but couldn't get in touch with me which of course that was a lie.

I called GM back on 9/19 to get more run around and being told my case was assigned to "Laurie" who would call me back that day, well I finally heard from "Laurie" yesterday, 9/27 to tell me in a nutshell they would not be responsible for payment in getting this fixed. why would you send a recall letter to your customers just to be told you are not honoring them and putting them at risk of a serious fatality? Who does that?!!

Driving in town, early evening, low beams went out. Pulled over and tried headlight switch, got high beams on. Drove home & got lights flashed at us a couple times. Next day the lights worked fine, I still replaced the relay and saved the previous one. This is the second time for this problem. Same repair, first time was a couple years ago at around 30,000 miles. I have never seen a recall on this problem.

Update from Jul 23, 2017: I recieved a letter from Buick in reference to the headlight problem. "This letter is intended to make you aware that some 2006 model year Buick LaCrosse have a condition where the HDM may not operate properly" etc.

Since this has happened to my Buick twice, I took this as a chance to get it looked at & maybe get a newer HDM that will hold up in the future. I called, set up an appointment, arrived at the dealer, was then told that if it wasn't out at that time there was nothing they could do. "not a recall but a technical service bulletin.

The time limits on a 2006 are 12 years or 150,000 miles . Looks like I have 6 months or 82,000 miles left on any factory repairs.

I don't understand what is taking so long for GM to send out this recall. What the heck are they waiting for? Both my headlights went out at the same time, and I had to drive in the dark twice with high beams only. I could have got a ticket for that I hear. Then I take the car to the dealer and tell them there is going to be a recall on this problem, but there is no "solution or remedy to fix it" SERIOUSLY???? So they say there is a temporary fix, but you have to pay first, and then one day when the recall comes out, you take your car to the dealer, and if what they did is the same fix as the recall, then they will pay for it!! THAT IS BULL....if the fix from GM is what the dealers are told to do, then I should get reimbursed for that no matter what!!! This make me furious!!!

The HeadIghts on my 2006 Buick Lacrosse turn off intermittently . It seems kinda dangerous when your lights go off and there are cars coming from the other direction, and you start to panic when it happens, you are not prepared for this. the lights went off at night when my wife was driving home ,on a dark road and she couldn't see any thing. She ran off the road and luckily she didn't hit anything. She called me and I went where it happened and we managed to get the car home..Next day everything was working great. Last night ,I was going to work at night same thing happened to me against oncoming traffic, I immediately pressed the Fog light button And they worked. this morning < everything is good. Can't figure out what's causing it.I noticed on different web sites , where other Buick owners are having the same problem,Seems to me that there should be a recall and this problem has to be fixed before a fatality occurs How do we go about bringing this problem to General Motors?

Low beam headlights don't work, High beam headlights work, tried replacing fuses, not sure what the problem is. See there is a recall for this issue, but, GM says my specific vehicle is not under this recall. Anyone have any ideas?

Update from Nov 18, 2015: Read several articles on line, went with replacing "HDM Relay" under the hood, approximately $30 fix, seems to have worked.

Very annoying when the lights, low beams, go out & you have to use you high beams. Scared me when it first happened, but now used to it. It occurs just about every time the car is driven at night. Other drivers surely don't like it that the high beams are on. Read on the 2005 Buick Lacrosse complaints someone advised to change the HDM Relay.(appears the 2005 has the same problem) My husband took our car in yesterday about the recall for the ignition & he asked the certified mechanic about this. He said that this would fix the problem, but they did not have the part in, but also said we could do it ourselves w/part from local auto parts store. It was half the cost & my husband put it in today. Sure hope this works. Mechanic said this is a very common problem & should be on recall.

We have had our low beam lights go out while driving at night. I have taken it in to have the problem fixed but the certified mechanic stated that they do not know what the issue is or how to fix it. I have read other people's issue with their 2006 Lacrosse and they have not found any solutions. We now have to drive with the high beams on at all times.

Why does Buick not make this a recall issue?

It started in July close the to the end of the month, the lights started to go off when I was driving home, they would not come back on as I was driving so I had to drive home with the high beam lights on. Then about in the middle of August they came on and they stayed on for a couple of weeks. Then one night my husband and I started to go to the store and the low beam light would not come on and ever since then they, as yet, have not come on.

Low beam head lights failed. They were fine, I parked the car in the garage.. the lights were on and turned off after the delay. Driving home the next day, no low beam head lights. They do not work on AUTO or manual mode. The high beam lights are fine. I have read that is a common problem, and very dangerous, as I was not aware my lights didn't work! Several on-coming vehicles flashed, so I stopped and checked..

Nobody seems to know what causes this, mine are not an intermittent problem, they just do not work. Period.

Really do not feel I should have to pay service fees to diagnose and correct a known problem with this vehicle. If someone can recommend a fix, tell me what part I need, and a place to buy the it at a reasonable price, I can find someone replace it. This is a definite safety factor, I cannot believe there is not a recall on this!! Please help!!

This is a safety issue. Headlights just go out completely. Have to use high beams. Lights might come back on after about 30 minutes. This only happens randomly. Maybe once a month. I've called the dealer, but they say they have no clue to what would be causing the problem.
