I am writing in regards to my catalytic converter and 02 sensors as I have had to replace them recent. I have been reading numerous articles on what would make these go bad and I'm really confused why after only 4yrs and 80k miles mine would have to be replaced? One of the articles also stated this is a part that should last the life of the car especially when proper maintenance is done. I have maintenance done religiously since the day I bought it new and I'm not happy about having to spend over $1200.00 for this and the fact I have a platinum warranty that would not cover me. Why is my mechanic not inspecting my vehicle when I take it in for routine maintenance? I have every receipt showing what they've inspected and never have I been told I needed to replace it. Isn't this what they're supposed to be doing? Looking for anything that might jeopardize the best performance of my vehicle?

I even looked at any recalls that might cause this part to go bad but there was not. I see where Encore has had a few recalls on other years with this or other components that have caused this component to go bad so is this situation I have been reported by enough people to be recalled or is my dealership responsible for refunding me? I don't think I should be responsible for this cost given these circumstances and would like to be refunded for this expense.

I love my Encore and I have gone to great lengths to care for it properly so it would last longer than 4 years!

I would like for someone to address this issue and inform me of a decision as I will be contacting my State Attorney General's office to get it resolved if you won't

Car averages 25 MPG even though rated 25/33/30 MPG for mostly highway driving (2/3).I would expect at least 30 mpg. Took car to dealer with almost 2000 miles on it.. I was told nothing was wrong that I need to put more miles on it to break it in. I've owned many cars and never had to put so many miles on it to break it in. I drive responsibly. No jack rabbit starts etc. There has to be a reason the mileage is so bad. I'm wondering how many others are having the same problem and whether the EPA needs to be notified about this if it seems to be a standard thing.
