TSB Document:

Affected Component: ENGINE (PWS)

Summary
THIS PRELIMINARY INFORMATION COMMUNICATION PROVIDES INFORMATION TO THE TECHNICIAN ON THE STEPS TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR VEHICLES THAT HAVE AN OIL LEAK AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE. TECHNICIAN WILL NEED TO USE THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM TESTER TO RECORD THE CRANKCASE PRESSURE. IF THE CRANKCASE PRESSURE IS IN THE PROPER RANGE, FOLLOW PUBLISHED SERVICE INFORMATION STRATEGY BASED DIAGNOSTICS FOR ENGINE OIL LEAKS. IF THE CRANKCASE PRESSURE IS EXCESSIVELY POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE, INSPECT FOR ANY AIR INDUCTION RESTRICTIONS IN THE FRONT AIR INTAKE DUCT TO AIR CLEANER HOUSING OR IN THE AIR CLEANER HOUSING. TECHNICIAN SHOULD ALSO INSPECT THE AIR CLEANER OUTLET DUCT FOR A BLOCKED POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION FRESH AIR-PORT. IF THE PORT IS NOT BLOCKED, THEN REPLACE THE CAMSHAFT COVER ASSEMBLY AND RETEST FOR PROPER CRANKCASE PRESSURE.
