bubbling paint bubbling paint

I purchased my 2013 Buick Encore in 2015 with only 9K miles. It was in fantastic shape and I've only had minor mechanical problems. It's still in good mechanical shape with very minor body defects (i.e. dents). Overall I like this car and have kept up with general maintenance including washing and waxing. The car shows very little fading even on the mirrors which others have complained about. Tonight I noticed the paint on the hood is bubbling up and peeling off. I have not taken it to a dealer as it is not out of the 50K warranty. This has to be a manufacturing defect. Does anyone know of a recall for this problem?

Paint bubbling appeared on top of passenger side mirror a few days after a heavy rain storm this summer. Very interesting to see others have had this same exact problem (what a coincidence, right?I) and Buick refuses to take responsibility for the poor paint job!

The paint on the mirrors faded out pretty early on, but I just took it as sun damage. One day I noticed the paint alongside the right side of the windshield was peeling and falling off. Since then the left side started, and now even the hood is bubbling up and falling off. I have not been in an accident, I have completed every oil change, recall, tire rotation, repairs that were necessary, have low miles and the paint just falls off! This is definitely a faulty defect in the paint, and GM is notorious for Paint issues all the way back to the 90's.

I tried to contact the dealer, and they just tried to rudely suggest I replace the car with a new one (of course, let's make a sale!). This was the 1st time I ever bought a brand new vehicle off the lot, and paid it off completely, and the paint just falls off. To say I am beyond disappointed, is an understatement. I did contact an auto body repair contact about repainting it, but then COVID hit, and he no longer took Customers. I don't feel like I should have to pay out of pocket to repaint my car just because they use defective paint, and don't care if their Customers are satisfied. When I do decide to buy a new vehicle, I assure you it won't be a GM! They lost a Customer over this.

I noticed another person has paint that bubbled on side mirrors and has now started peeling. I purchased my 2013 in 2016. The paint bubbled shortly after and just started peeling off this past weekend. I just turned 60,000 miles and obviously this won't be covered. paint shouldn't be this bad.

paint bubble, chip and peal off of mirrors

AT AROUND 49000 MILES IN THE SUMMER OF 2015 I NOTICED WHAT LOOKED LIKE THE PAINT ON BOTH MIRRORS BUBBLING. AT FIRST I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT. BY THE END OF THE SUMMER THE PAINT STARTED PEELING OFF THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO THE GM DEALER IN SHELTON, CT. UNFORTUNATELY AT THAT TIME I HAD JUST WENT OVER 50K MILES AND OUTSIDE OF THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. GM DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE ME $350 PER MIRROR. CURRENTLY THE DRIVER MIRROR HAS VERY LITTLE PAINT ON IT LEFT. DEFINATELY A DEFECTIVE PAINT JOB, BUT THE DEALER OR GM WILL NOT ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY. LUCKILY I HAVE A FRIEND THAT WORKS FOR INFINITI AND THEY ARE GOING TO RE-PAINT EACH MIRROR FOR LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT GM WANTED FOR ONE MIRROR.
