We received a letter from General Motors in June of 2023 advising us of the recall associated with our vehicle (airbags that could inflate and kill occupants) and promising to remedy the issue at no charge. However, it has now been 9 months since we received notice and still there are no parts available to fix this issue. It is clear that General Motors is not trying to remedy this matter and simply hoping that people will sell their cars before someone or many people dies from this defect. What is the NHTSA doing about this? We need more than a nice web page - we need you to hold GM accountable. Please get them to fix this issue.

I have received four Recall Notices (dated June 2023, 08/21/2023, 09/19/2023, and 10/17/2023) relative to the Drivers Air Bag Inflator May Explode. I have reached out to the dealer to schedule the free recall repair to no avail. Each time they have informed me that parts are unavailable. It now has been several months since they have not contacted me for repair or resolution. Occasionally, the Service Airbag indicator light of the vehicle comes on. Meanwhile, I continue to drive this vehicle at great risk of injury and death. Request help in getting the manufacturer and dealer to expedite in fixing the problem. Thank you.

The manufacturer sent a letter dated June 2023 for NHTSA recall 23V334 / GM recall N232404980 involving the potential for explosive rupture of the driver's side front airbag. At the time of issuance, no remedy was yet available and the manufacturer indicated that there would be follow-up communication once a remedy was available. As of the morning of February 19, 2024, both NHTSA's website and the manufacturer's website report that a remedy is still not available. Also, we have received no further communication from the manufacturer for this recall. We will be contacting a local dealer for additional assessment and guidance, but are concerned that the manufacturer has not been more assertive in addressing this recall.

I contacted GM and they referred me to file an online complaint with you. We are part of the airbag recall on our 2014 Buick Enclave that can result in serious injury or death. It's now been almost a year since we were notified and there has been no follow up communication or a timeline for which this will be fixed, which is completely unacceptable. This is our teenage daughter's car and we do not feel comfortable with her driving it. We cannot sell the car because no one wants it and we cannot afford another car. The lack of communication from GM is frustrating. I would like someone to communicate what the realistic timeline is for the airbag to be replaced. We even offered to replace it out of our own pocket or just have it removed, which they will not do.
