The power steering pump failure on this 2011 Buick Enclave is a well documented problem. We had to press the dealer to seek repair under warranty through GM and we got it because we researched there was a problem. There is an extended warranty on the Power Steering Pump up to 150,000 miles or 10 years from the date the vehicle was originally purchased. It should be noted there was a General Motors letter that went out to the original owners in Sept 2014.

We purchased our Enclave as a second owner in 2016 and had to google search this information as no-one offered this information. If you have paid for this repair, reimbursement was only available until Sept 30/15 which doesn't make sense given the extended warranty offered. The letter from General Motors is available to download from enclaveforum.net.

Unfortunately this vehicle has had many other premature failures on other parts as compared to our Chevrolet Suburban. Like the vehicle, but do not like all the problems that come with it regularly. The premature failures on this vehicle should all be covered under an extended warranty as our vehicle has barely reached 100,000 miles. Not a good track record compared to other vehicles on the market!

I am very disappointed with the Enclave right now. I have bought Chevy cars since I started driving. I was excited to own this car. My Mom owned a Buick Regal when I was young and I remembered how I loved driving it. When I drove the Enclave it felt the same to me. When the steering tightened up on vacation I could not believe it. It ruined being able to sight see any thing. We were afraid to go any where. I called the dealer where I got the car, they hoped I would make it home safely. But of course they could not promise me. I just prayed that we would make it home. It was a scary not knowing if the steering would lock up or not.

This just should not have happened. The car isn't that old. I really feel this should be a recall due to the danger of losing your steering. We were in the mountains. I am sure all know how windy those hills can be! I was froze to the steering wheel! Talk about stress!

I hope GM contacts me on this matter! Also helps with the cost because it isn't cheap!.
