Previous problem of metal crunching sound from right wheel well was connected to loud humming engine due to faulty power steering pump, and rack and pinion steering seal leaks. Dealership states power steering pump will be replaced at NO CHARGE due to recall/warranty.

Rack and pinion seal repair WILL NOT BE COVERED and becomes my responsibility. I am very dissatisfied with this issue not also being a recall. Verbal estimate is $1400. (Wow, I thought I bailed GM out in 2008.) My question is: How can this be TWO separate issues?

If the power steering pumps' function is to control the hydraulic pressure through a series of hoses which then controls the rack and pinion steering and the pump is faulty. (In fact multiple failures to the point of recall) This puts incredible amounts of strain on the rack and pinion steering seals which causes the damage to the seals and then leaks. How could the rack and pinion not fail in these circumstances?

As a loyal GM customer since 1976 (Pontiac Ventura, Oldsmobile Cutlass, Oldsmobile Delta 98, 2 GMC Safari Vans, GMC Savanna Van, Pontiac Grand AM, Chevrolet Cavalier, Buick Regal, Pontiac Torrent, GMC Sierra truck and now Buick Enclave)

I would hope GM would reconsider. I would like to thank the Schepel dealership staff in Merrillville Indiana for their excellent customer service.
