Backup camera is unsafe. If outdoors the screen fades to nothing in bright light. Would not enable driver to see a child or other obstacle behind the vehicle. Does not allow visualization to the rear so as to avoid a collision. Does not provide increased safety. I have talked to other owners and they describe the same problem with their vehicle. I don't know why GM has never made an effort to correct this problem.
