Took my 2009 Buick Enclave to Cooper's Garage in Hammond, IN because the check engine light was on. They told me it was the timing chain but it was ok to drive the car. I was even told I could drive to California & back without a problem. So they didn't want to fix it. Had the timing chain replaced on 7/20/2020.

Extremely expensive fix for a previously identified defect...GM says extended warranty will not cover the stretched timing chain. Called customer service for some relief twice. Got a case number and an adviser who did not return 7 calls. Got a new adviser who had a full mailbox and could not leave a message. Finally got her and her supervisor who were less than cordial or helpful and indicated that GM would not give relief or consideration. Asked the local service manager several times to request a call from Justin Coleman the after sales manager. She indicated that Justin Coleman would not contact customers. I even tried to contact him via Linkedin and he did not respond.

Service engine light came on 6/1/18 on trip out of state. Base on current mileage of 122,000 minus mileage of trip the mileage would have somewhere around 120,500 or less. Also on that trip had a brake problem. Local mechanic changed rotors. I ask him to check service engine light but he said at that time it wasn't on. Couple days later it was back on. I had him check it while it was on and the code PO008 came up so meaning timing chain.

I took it into the dealership today. Repair estimates now will cost me $3200.00. Mileage is now at 122,000 so GM refuses to cover the repair charges because even though the 10 yrs is not up the mileage is now over the 120M extended warranty period.

I've taken my Buick into the dealership numerous times past couple years for warranty recalls, etc and also for a check engine light @ 61,375 miles. Nothing has ever been said about the timing chain problems or the Customer Satisfaction Program 10287 which offered to reprogram the control module. So much for their Customer Satisfaction Program. I'll never own another Buick or GM vehicle. Done with both.

Dealer service dept. First sAid engine coil($480). Engine light came back on shortly. Returned to dealer asap. Said catalytic converter problem($1180) . Engine light returned within one dAy wth very little miles driven. Returned to dealer. They were nice, gave me a loaner. Two days dAys later I called. Now they say 4 other coils need replacement. Price is over $1000. Is it worth it to put more money into it when I am not sure this will actually work.

failed valve and rocker arm

I became aware of a transmission issue with this make/model of vehicle after purchasing the vehicle from my Wife's grandmother (first owner). The transmission felt like it was slipping and the service engine light came on so I attempted to drive the vehicle into the dealership, but ended up requiring a tow when the vehicle broke down on the freeway. The dealership found a broken rocker arm, opened the engine and determined that the engine required complete replacement (vehicle under 50,000 miles). I was told by the dealership that they could not identify the cause of the issue. GM offered to cover less than half of the cost to replace the engine (My bill will be $5,500). Once the engine is replaced the dealership will have to inspect the transmission and possibly replace the wave plate. My plan is to repair the vehicle, sale it, and never again drive a GM vehicle.

After about 40,000miles check engine-light came on. Took to dealer. They said it's trans & that they fixed it, reset light. Came on again. Took to dealer, they said its engine, reset light. Did same a couple more times. Each time dealer said they found something new & fixed it.

Did same again, called GM Customer Service. They told me to go back to same dealer, thought they were kidding sending me back to same dealer, they said no not kidding. Thought they would get an independent assessment as same dealer was not able to ID or fix problem.

While at oil change tech had a trouble code reader, read that cylinders were misfiring, reset the light. Happened several more times. Had the oil change place read codes (same codes) and reset.

Now see that this light just goes on for a while then turns off by itself. I am at 95,000 miles and nothing bad has happened. Also, pretty sure dealer was doing nothing more than resetting the check-engine light. The pain in the ass is that when the check-engine light goes on the remote start does not work so can not warm up or cool off car ahead of time.

Yes, a recall or fix should have been done on this...or at least a bulletin to advise to ignore this light.

Enclave CX 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 37,000 miles

We bought our 2009 Buick Enclave CX in February 2014. I could tell that something was wrong because it was "sputtering" when I would try to get on the highway. Then one day after work I was getting on highway & the Check Engine Light started blinking....had no clue what that meant. The next day I took it by the Auto Parts store to see if they could pull a code...nothing was there. The next time it happened the CEL stayed on. I again to it back to the Auto Parts store and it pulled up misfire on cylinder 6.

From the suggestion of the Parts manager, I got some Sea Foam & put it into the gas tank. Didn't help. We bought a coil pack & replaced it. (Or so we think since there's no diagram for our engine to tell us which cylinder is which!) I could tell it was still not right. A week or so later the CEL came back on....I was sure that it would say 6 again but NO now it was misfiring on 4...I asked for a diagram & from the looks of it, when we changed the coil it wasn't 6! (from what we can see from the diagram anyways!) We didn't have $60 to spare AGAIN so we had to ride it out for a day or two....but then the CEL went off, on, it's on. Since then, it has come on & off constantly.

It now has 51,000 miles. Seriously, I've researched this & it seems SEVERAL people have had this problem & spent an Enormous amount of money to change out ALL coil packs & then the spark plugs....but from what I've read....they still had problems....WHERE'S THE RECALL????? Of course I have a "Power-train Warranty"....but a lot of good that does, huh?! We pay TOO much money for this "Luxury" SUV/Wagon, with less than 40,000 miles, to ALREADY have to have EVERY ignition coil & spark plug replaced for it to NOT fix the problem.

OBVIOUSLY there's an issue here....WAKE UP & DO A RECALL!
