CarComplaints.com Notes: Buying the first model year of any vehicle is rarely a good idea. You become a guinea pig for the automaker and they are really not nice to guinea pigs.
The 2008 Enclave has a wide enough range of problems to issue a warning. There's transmission failure under 90k miles, new power steering units costing over $1,300, and enough engine complaints to NHTSA to scare anyone away.

I have had problems with this car from day one, I have spent over $5,000 in less than 6 months on all kinds of problem with this car. I had to replace the lift gate lock and shock, replace the intermediate shaft steering wheel, replace driver seat track. Then back in shop in less than a month to replace the steering column and intermediate shaft. Then a month later back in shop, replace the valve body and related part, replace XM radio system. In Nov. had to car back in shop to replace power steering pump, replace both inner and outer axle shafts. I believe I'm entitle to a refund or something from trouble vehicle has cost me. I holding on receipts of all repairs this vehicle has cost me.
