CarComplaints.com Notes: Buying the first model year of any vehicle is rarely a good idea. You become a guinea pig for the automaker and they are really not nice to guinea pigs.

The 2008 Enclave has a wide enough range of problems to issue a warning. There's transmission failure under 90k miles, new power steering units costing over $1,300, and enough engine complaints to NHTSA to scare anyone away.

Enclave V6

When I bought the vehicle last Nov, it had several various undisclosed problems likely caused by clogged drain lines to the both the AC & sunroof (radio amp, heater motor, door locks, wet carpet, water in battery compartment, etc). All the drain lines had to be carefully cleaned out by hand and resealed. Warning: you can't just blow them without blowing out hidden rubber fittings located inside the body walls, making the problem worse.

I will never buy a Buick Enclave again or any GM vehicle. My Buick Enclave is leaking inside from the rain. This happened two years ago and I took the car in to have the sun roof drains cleaned. Why they needed to be cleaned is beyond me since I never open the sunroof. Well, since I had them cleaned, it really has not rained. I live in California and we are in a drought. This year (2016-2017) we have been blessed with a ton of rain. I got in my car and both my front floor boards had 1 inch of water. The sides were wet from the sunroof to the dashboard and next to the seats from the roof of the car to the seatbelt holder. This is the same thing that happened before. This is a major issue with the car and GM will not take any responsibility. They say we need to clean the sunroof drains. Why? I have a 2003 Honda CRV with a sunroof. It has 255000 miles on it and it has NEVER leaked inside the car. This is a major flaw in this car. I have never heard of a car needing to have the sunroof drains cleaned before. I worry about the car catching on fire due to electrical issue OR getting stuck in the car like one gentleman in the complaint because the water sabotaged the computer from unlocking the car. I have made a formal complaint with Buick / GM and because the car is no longer under warranty it is my issue. Really!!! Don't buy a BUICK or GM vehicle.

Enclave

  • Automatic transmission
  • 28,000 miles

Purchased this Enclave in November 2010 used. I love this car. It is always parked under a shelter at work or at home. Late 2013 we were out in a terrible storm and realized we were getting water thru the sun visors, then the vents. The only time it leaks is when you are driving in the rain or parked in the rain. On 5-10-15 in a terrible storm again and sitting in the middle section and the water poured in every vent. This is the first time I rode in the middle section. The water that came in soaked three towels (beach towels) and a sweat shirt not counting the rugs on the floor boards. This is a nightmare. There is no way I can drive this auto in the rain. You can actually hear the water coming in. I have not contacted the dealership about this yet. Any suggestions?

Enclave CX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 89,000 miles

My 2008 Buick Enclave has had several problems with the electric units inside, this vehicle leaks on both sides of the roof down into the dash board and sides. This has really got bad, the floor had standing water from the last 2 rains. We were not able to suck up all of the water and now it has mole growing. I've seen others who have had this problem, but haven't seen a recall. When I call I'm told they have not heard of this. How can I drive my children and grandchildren in this mess with mole in it. I think when you pay so much for a vehicle like this one you shouldn't have to worry about these things. If anyone has been able to get a solution on this please let me know.
