CarComplaints.com Notes: Buying the first model year of any vehicle is rarely a good idea. You become a guinea pig for the automaker and they are really not nice to guinea pigs.
The 2008 Enclave has a wide enough range of problems to issue a warning. There's transmission failure under 90k miles, new power steering units costing over $1,300, and enough engine complaints to NHTSA to scare anyone away.

"open hood alarm" locking the shifter in park - etc
Don't know why all of a sudden when going to use the vehicle in the am the key fob wouldn't work and my wife is opening the hood and reshutting etc to get rid of the alarm so she could get it out of park. I spent the day calling and researching how to check the hood switch or replace. more importantly how to get the car out of park so I could get it to a dealer. The dealer didn't know how to help me or others I called about getting it out of park - I wasn't sure how they could even get it on a truck in park and I just had the transmission fixed last summer.) Finally found the manual override in the console and was able to drive it straight to the dealer - with no turn signals or many other functions. (definite care must be taken if you manually move out of park.) $117 to have it looked at and they haven't called with the solution yet. (Dealer hadn't heard of this before)
