AC Not Working Properly

CarComplaints.com Seal Of This Might Hurt

CarComplaints.com Notes: Buying the first model year of any vehicle is rarely a good idea. You become a guinea pig for the automaker and they are really not nice to guinea pigs.

The 2008 Enclave has a wide enough range of problems to issue a warning. There's transmission failure under 90k miles, new power steering units costing over $1,300, and enough engine complaints to NHTSA to scare anyone away.

A/C not cooling. Turns out that the power steering pressure hose had rubbed a hole through the low side aluminum tube that runs from the front of vehicle all the way to the rear A/C unit. Was told by GM that the replacement line kit was $799.00 (not including labor) and required a special tool to install due to replacement line being a multiple piece line instead of a one piece like the vehicle came with.

This is an obvious factory installed problem and should be recalled due to improper hose placement. Power steering hose has a metal crimp right where it contacts the A/C line and is rubber on either side of the crimp. The crimp appears to be there to keep the rubber portion of hose from being able to rub on the A/C tube which in turn wears through the aluminum tube.

I am sure there has to be hundreds if not thousands of these vehicles that have had this issue but owners likely do not know exactly what the issue is and I am sure the repairing dealer is not going to tell them that it is a GM screw up therefore they pay for something that was not manufactured properly costing them $1500 - $2000 to have repaired. This needs to be looked in to and a recall issued. This vehicle had 104,000 miles on it and had no previous repairs that could have caused this problem.

I bought this big piece of Junk in August 2011! In October 2011 the A/C started blowing hot air. I took it back to the dealership because I had purchased the extended warranty. They fixed it, but never said what the problem was. The following summer we had the same issue, so we took it back to the dealership again under the extended warranty, and once again they claimed it was fixed.

It's now 2015 and all summer I've been dealing with the same issue of the A/C blowing hot air! I've had freon put in it several times, but it only lasted a short while, now it's not taking at all! I don't have the money to replace the system, which is what seems to be the problem!!! Never in my life have I owned a car with as many problems as this one!!! I will NEVER buy another GM car again, nor will I EVER recommend it to anyone else!

Went through 3 weeks without my Buick because of the Faulty 3-5R Transmission break and faulty water pump. Had both items replaced, without a car (rental on my own dime since it was "special coverage" and not "Warranty" issue).... needless to say, I got my car back and now my A/C doesn't work. It's blowing hot air at the worst possible time-- Summer in Phoenix! Ugh!

Took the car to an auto shop today to ask about an A/C Charge. They said I have a leak in the compressor and it would cost nearly $1200 to replace. SON OF A B*&@^!!!!

Is this something stop leak can fix? Any home remedies or is it time to get rid of the POS buick that now has all new tires, new brakes and rotors, new water pump, new transmission, etc. etc. etc.

Okay, so I bought my dream car used at 38000 miles, never dreaming I could have such a luxurious car. I had saved for 12 years to pay cash $24,000. Nothing but problems from the second month I owned the car till now. This last episode was a deal breaker.

I parked at work one day and heard a loud hissing coming from my car. Couldn't see anything or tell where it was coming from. A week later it started to get warm and I tried out my air conditioner. Nothing. (I assume this was related to the hissing) I took it to the dealer who said the entire line that goes from front to back, had a hole in it. This was a design issue that caused a rubbing against the part and eventually a hole in the line. Seems this line can only be purchased from GM. I was without my car for two weeks, the dealer would not return calls promptly or at all, and lied about the cost to me. Claimed to be giving me a discount when he actually marked the price of the part up just to mark it down and call it a discount. Total charge to me was $1182.15. Get this, a whopping $18.00 discount off the original quoted repair cost of $1200.

Strike 6 against my Enclave.

After reporting problems with my AC on numerous occasions to the local Buick Dealership over a period of a couple of years ( freon added) , it finally died. Of course it was during the hottest part of the summer and the warranty had expired!

It would not have bothered me as much, had I not been taking it in regularly to be serviced and had not complained numerous times that it was not cooling properly.

Too many problems with this particular car. Seems like every time I turn around, it's something wrong!

Will not purchase another!

Since the day of purchase the steering wheel makes a strange squeaky noise

and the vehicle has an unusual smell (similar to wet dog). The salesman (Terry Elsworth from Eagle Buick GMC) agreed to replace the missing back row control panel for the AC/Music, repair numerous dings, detail the vehicle, fill with gas, and repair the AC.

o 3 visits to dealership within 2 months to have dings repaired (some dings still remain)

o returned the vehicle 5 times from date of purchase 1/11 until 10/11 to have the AC repaired however Eagle would only refill the Freon and never fixed the existing condition (replace leaking AC parts) as promised. (each time it was weeks that we would go-because of their service schedule-without AC in the hot Florida summer)

o It took approximately 2+ months to receive the back row control panel for the AC/Music, which my husband had to replace and still does not work properly.

o Never received detailing or gas fill-up for vehicle nor reimbursement for vehicles that we gassed when using a loaner car
