The dash lights are too low to see the gear indicator. This problem occurs off and on without any recognizable reasoning. Not really a safety issue but definitely affects cars performance. Not much difference between "D" and "3" position so allows for possibility of driving at freeway speeds in third gear...not very good for car engine.
