the car lost a large amount of power, had a hard time going up hills. When going up a hill, the car would make a loud, high pitched, hissing sound. The catalytic Converter was plugged, and needed to be replaced.

I took my car to the Buick dealer and they said the jerk was from bad gas-this went on until the converter went out in 2004- I called GM and asked about the problem and was told to go back to the Buick dealer as they are their experts. I ended up replacing the converter and drove the car about 50 miles and it went out again. I took it back to the Buick dealer and was told that it didn't show on the computer, but I probably needed a ignition module which they replaced. I also had had all the fluids and filters replaced as they said maybe that was the problem. This cost me 943 dollars which they could not find the breakdown to give me a copy of what they had done. I continued to replace converters some only lasted 4miles. I finally had to get my car smoged last year in 2009 and asked the state of CA to help pay for it thru the Dept of Automotive Repair. In the mean time the Buick dealership went out of Business so I was calling GM and they told me to take my car to the Buick dealer in Concord which is a long way from my house; however the State only covers at their own approved places.

Gm Finally assigned a young man to my case and he called me and said that they would pay for the Converter, but not the labor so I have replaced it again along with the Muffler as it was full of junk from the converters that had blown it into it. I have not driven very far as of now; however the man that replaced the muffler said he thinks that he figured out what was wrong. I hope so. I have spent 8999 dollars for repairs on this.

Thank you for listening to me. I do not think that GM should get away with this. If I worked for GM I would have gotten an Engineer and a Mechanical Specialist together as they are supposed to know how their cars function and would have figured it out.

I am a 71 year old woman that has worked as a professional most of my adult life and I could do a better job than they have.
