Scratchy mechanical type noise from behind the steering wheel when turning the steering wheel. Doesn't matter if car is moving or stopped.
Initial response from dealer is that it is probably related to recent very cold weather we have been having, although it did not occur yesterday when it was 12 degrees but has started today when it's 20 degrees. They say it may be plastic parts that are affected by cold and that they've seen this with other models as well. This seems highly questionable to me but we are going to see what happens over next few days when it should warm up. They say it is safe to drive but I should bring it in if it doesn't go away.
