The problem begain with a loss of power, the 1/2 engine malfunction light comes on. It also says to proceed under reduced power to the nearest BMW repair center but I could not proceed. I managed to pull into a church parking lot. I turned off the engine and made arrangements to get a tow truck, called me wife, etc. When I was going to have to wait 4 hours for a tow truck I decided to start the car and see what happens. It started and I was able to drive around the parking lot with no problem. So I ventured back on the highway once I got to almost 45 mph the reduced power issue returned. I managed to drive it a local repair shop who had replaced the water pump and thermostat in Dec. of 2022.

They found codes P142E, P0300, P0306 and P0301 which led to a diagnosis of the hi-pressure fuel pump and an associated Fuel Rail pressure sensor.

I was driving my BMW x5 on July 17,2015 when the engine light came on for the second time. The car stalled and then died in the road while I was driving. This is the second time this has happened. Unlike the first time, I was able to re-start the car. The car sputtered and jerked and I was barely able to get it off the highway.

The car was towed to Moses BMW where they informed me the car was in "limp mode". I was told mechanics looked over the car and could find nothing wrong and have no idea at all why the car malfunctioned. They said it could have been an electrical issue, although they could not find anything to explain it. I am not waiting for another problem that puts lives in danger. Breaking down on the highway while driving twice is enough.

Since this has happened twice now, I very rarely drive my x5 because I don't feel safe in it. I also have not allowed my now 5 year old son to ride in the car at all. I have been driving a rental car until I get rid of the x5.

Update from Apr 7, 2015: Marine42247, my BMW X5 is a Lemon and still having problems with my BMW X5 xdrive35i AWD 2011 this BMW Corp. should be Investigated too its been nothing but problems one after the other now its the electric water pump going bad and thermostat housing with two rubber hoses ,afte the stall in Feb.3,2015 having a engine over hull with new gaskets and transmission seals its been very alot of pain and suffering renting a vehicle in place of BMW X5 is a bad headache I need a lawyer for a Law Suite and please call me or email I need a lawyer that will sue BMW Corp. for Millions because I have it enough spending about $ 7,000.00 in bills and getting another extended warranty for this BMW X5 xdrive35i AWD 2011.
