I just pulled in my driveway after work one day and smell burn. Next thing was feeling heat in my butt and realized the heater element burnt through the leather and charred my pants. Luckily I was at home already and shut off the ignition right away.
I filed an online complaint with Transport Canada and BMW Canada, whom told me to have a diagnostic done by a dealer. I did that costing me Cdn $200 out of my pocket, thinking BMW would reimburse me plus fixing the problem for it's a safety related problem by the definition of Transport Canada. Report was sent to BMW and the rep called me back to say it's not covered since the warranty was over despite it was a safety issue. I argued God knew what would happen if this happened while I was driving on the highway. BMW wouldn't do the right thing in taking the responsibility to fix a safety issue, literally causing me a pain in the butt & wallet, and left a bad smell lingering on.
