2003 BMW X5 Started having oil leak spots on driveway, Started to get bigger.
Took to local mechanics for diagnosis. Determined to need 2 valve cover gaskets, replaced. This vehicle can be parked outside from time to time and temps are getting in sub zero. noticing larger oil drips, vehicle is now running very rough with large clouds of blue smoke coming out of tail pipe. Took to local mechanics for diagnosis again. determined to need 2 new cam shaft seals, 2 new oil seperator valves. Vehicle is chugging and alert warnings are flashing, smoke is coming into passenger compartment. Stopped vehicle on roadside looked underneath oil is running onto the ground and is coming out of tailpipe, oil has covered engine compartment from cap coming loose.
Vehicle was transported to local mechanics again. New throttle body installed repalced OSV's again ( possible faulty part ) new oil cap, new spark plugs, engine degreased new oil with dye and cleaning fuel additive put in . Vehicle is running smoother but still burning oil on startup and check engine light is flashing intermittently. Outside temps are now minus -25 consistently.
Vehicle returned to mechanics again, advised that the engine intake will be taken apart and looked at. This is the 6th time the vehicle has been returned to local mechanics, each time with a bill in the range of $300 to $700 dollars and several test drives. Have not been called yet stating my vehicle is done yet...its been 5 days
