My 2001 BMW X5 was parked in front of my home and in the middle of the night an unknown electrical issue caused a fire to burn the interior of my car. It destroyed the dash board on the passenger side, and did significant damage to the head liner and shattered the windshield. During the fire both air bags were deployed and the car interior received substantial smoke and heat damage.
I purchased my BMW X5 brand new and it has regularly been serviced by the dealership and was in mint condition! After researching the internet, I discovered that this type of fire has occurred before but I was never informed of the possible dangerous hazard that existed! The car had been parked for several days before this incident happened and I have only God to thank that this did not happen with me or my family driving.
If you have had similar issues please submit your complaint so BMW will take some corrective action!
