A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I have a BMW, 7 series 2010 with oem run flat tires. During the first year of the lease two of the run flat's developed bubbles and gave out and needed to be replaced. I was told that these were simply due to the conditions in manhattan that this happened. Now I notice another clear bubble forming on the side of the third tire and my total mileage so far is below 11,000. This situation is echoed by 100's of BMW customers online and nothing is being done about it. BMW does not want you to change to non-run flat tires, citing that this would be against the lease terms and yet continues to charge $600 for ever tire that needs to be replaced which is now just a little more than frequent. I feel that BMW is doing this knowingly and this is a big scam. Overall, despite their safety I feel that these tires are defective and are well known to be judging by 100's of customer complaints online but BMW chooses to remain quiet about it. I would greatly appreciate if your department was to take note of this issue. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and the current mileages were 17,000.

2010 BMW model 750 il. Consumer states vehicle has a shimmy the consumer stated after purchasing the vehicle a few months ago, he had the wheels chrome plated. As the vehicle was driven, a shimmy in the front end became evident. BMW claimed the chroming process caused the problem and the four wheels were bent. The consumer stated there was nothing in the chroming process that would affect the metallurgical integrity of the wheels, and it was the consumers feeling that in the heat treating process at BMW the process was defective. BMW claimed that out of the 100,000 wheels they have sold there had been no reports of soft wheels, but the suppler of the chrome wheels said that was not true and they had problems with 750 models before.
